Lyrinkal ran at her fastest. she was being pursued by Valinia and Curse, dreaded Riot's Betas. behind her she could hear their conversation: "Faster you miserable Furball, Riot wants us to catch this mousebrained bitch soon, and you dont want him to be dissapointed!" that was Valinia, the female to the left, where curse was, the only reply was maniacal laughter, a bonechilling sound to say the least. then all was silent for a while.
suddenly, a grey form appeared infront of Lyr. "Surprise!" said curse "shut up rabbit face" valinia andwered curse, from behind Lyr. "now, you will come with us, and not make a fuss..." that was Valinia again, as Lyr bounded up a small cliff, out of her and curse's trap. behind her she heard "get her you incompetent frog spawn!" the chase continued, through the woods and into the marshes, where movement was slower, but tracking more difficult. Lyr ziggzagged her way through the marshes, loosing the pursuit as Valinia said "damn, where did that mousebrain get to? ah well, we've been after her long enough. you get to tell Riot though, fuzzhead." Lyr forged on for several more miles, then slept for a few hours. in the morning she continued until she arrived at the serentity pack border, where she howled to the resident pack, hoping for a place to stay, for a few days, or perhaps much longer.

The moon sent forth an eerie glow upon the snow below, making the crystals sparkle like the morning dew upon the succulent leaves of a Spring that was coming all too fast. All around the beach, the tell-tale signs of winter were leaving. However, all was not as it seemed, never is it so. Nae, a storm was in the making. Even now, unknown to the wolven who lived off the land and it's meat, a great blizzard was forming high above. The count-down was only days now. And as the winds came from the north, prey animals had fled the land. With the meat so scarce, wolves were growing more and more fierce and territorial. As was the way of the predator. The darkness that loomed over the land, while it couldn't be seen in the part in the clouds that the moon was now sneaking through, it could be found in the hearts of all.
Walking about in that malicious promise made by nature, stepped a dainty Grey Wolf of a dappled grey decent. With soft eyes, her ears gave a slight twitch as the distressed call of her Kin reached her. In a hurry, four legs powered the wolf forward through the snow. Closer, closer, toward the wolf song. Finally, as her acute eyes caught the outline of an adult only yards away, she let a welcoming bark escape her parted jaws. Slowing to a trot, then to a halt, the Alpha raised her tail formally, and stood tall and alert. Sirens rang through her ears as instinct fought for control. With little prey in her terra, Rayna had to be careful. This newcomer, while she could be honest and true, could also be a spy.. Or a rover only here to steal from the land under the Alpha's nose. That said, yet unspoken, Rayna forced a sullen nod.
"Greetings stranger. I am Rayna, Alpha of Serenity. Do you seek shelter in my packland, or are you here for another reason?"

Lyrinkal studied the alphess for a moment, taking a stance, subordinate, but not excessively so. she looked like a kind leader, so Lyr decided that she wished to try her luck under this sleek Fae's leadership. she replied formally "i do seek shelter and the warmth that comes of being one with the pack." she dipped her head and lowered her tail just a bit more, yet there was nothing pleading in her posture, rather a blend of pride and respect. Lyr had no definite expectations, but she was certain that Chaos Wind could not reach her here. vaguely she sensed that these land were not without their dangers and rivals, but there was also the sense of balance. no power could grow without others knowing of it, unlike home where the evil came from far off and arrived like a summer thunderstorm, but lingered like the stench of skunk.lyr glanced over her shoulder toward the pounding surf, it was unlike anything she has ever seen before, powerful, relentless and dangerous, but only if one was careless. she turned back to the alphess, chiding herself for woolgathering

Acknowledging Lyr's statement and stance, the Alpha Female dipped her muzzle slightly. This small show of body language, much like how the opposing canine stood with her body held submissive yet formal, could give a wolf insight on the meanings and emotions of their Kin. Just as Rayna would have raised her tail and widened her front legs ever so slightly had the other female not lowered her tail like she did. This act of submission told the Queen of what Lyr's position would be if Rayna agreed to her admittance.
However, just as Rayna was parting her lips, a sharp breeze ruffled through her thick winter pelt. The crystals in the air assaulted her under-coat and in a quick second, she closed her eyes to shield them. As it blew by, the Alpha opened her eyes and found her arrival to be watching the surf as it danced with the winds. She too, watched for a moment. It was amazing to her, that while the lands were covered in ice and snow, the ocean's salty water remained practically unfrozen. The cold water flowed up onto the snowy sands of the frozen beach front. "Life will find a way. Nature will take it's course, no matter the obstacles in it's path." Turning her eyes back toward Lyrinkal, the two seemed to watch each other with the same fascination as the surf.
Finally, the Female inhaled and proclaimed her decision. "I have a feeling that winter will not be so quick as to finish with us this soon. Nae, a powerful storm is on it's way. Look above you, stranger. See the thick, black storm clouds that swirl and growl angrily? In this plight, wolves must seek unity in order to survive." A pause, "and so, you may stay. I only ask that you remain loyal and obedient to my every word while you're paws rest in my territory. I am understanding and compassionate, but do not play me off as a fool." Calming her tone, the Queen smiled warmly. "Now then, with the formal statements said, I wish to know your name. You already know mine."

Lyr looked at the sky, as she was bid. indeed, the clouds swirled angrily and mightily, caring the chill of high mountains. after Rayna had said her bit, lyr nodded then smiled, saying simply, "i am Lyrinkal, once of New IceCreek, now of Serenity." she waged her tail slightly in amusement. "i am not unfamiliar with hard winters and prey shortages" she stated, taking half a step toward the more sheltered woods from which the alphess had come. she recalled the icy days before Chaos wind attacked. the stream has been frozen for weeks, the only open water being at the base of the falls and the best shelter being nearly a league away. she remembered her pack's strange alliance with Ksarrare, a cougar. she shook her head, bringing herself back to the here and now. she asked Rayna, suppressing a yawn, the exertions of the days before catching up with her "would you show me to the dens now? then perhaps tomorrow you or another pack member could show me the rest of the Terra" she added, acting like a beta or delta without even realizing that she was being presumptuous

Rayna was silently absorbing all that the female spoke as her eyes watched the sky. It was close, and though Rayna was no Seer, the weather was so obvious that even a lowly wolf could tune it in. With a shiver, the Alpha Female turned her attention back toward her first pack member. "I would be honored to show you our dens. Please, follow me." Before she turned away, she stood up and slowly walked toward her. With a soft touch of her snout on Lyr's cheek, Rayna made the last gesture to show her devotion and acceptance of Lyrinkal. Then, with a warm smile, she turned and started at a slow trot back into their territory.
With this new pack member, came a new sense of responsibility for the she-wolf. Now that a soul depended on her alone for safety, what could poor Rayna do but feel nervous? As for rankings, Lyr would have to earn a higher rank, for it would not be given her. No matter what went through, it was clear that Lyr would not be the omega. Nae, she had strength in her soul, mind, and heart that made the Alpha very excited. With such a good-natured pack mate and a potential friend, the family was starting to grow and with it, there developed a strong bond that would hold Rayna to the family. Even if it costed her life, she would protect that family..

Lyr nodded and followed Rayna through the packlands, shivering slightly at the building storm. trhese lands were truly beautiful, but they did not feel like home, not yet anyway. there were too many strange scents, too many unfamiliar plants, so many little things that were different, none of which made her uncomfortable, but none of which were making the joining of a new pack any easier, but the differences were also exciteing because they ment new things to explore and new adventures to be had. almost suddenly, Lyr felt all the lost sleep of the past two weeks catch up with her and she relized how truly exausted she was. she hoped that the dens werent too terribly far, she could go on for quite awhile yet but she would much rather not. Lyr normally would be taking it the stunning beauty of the surrounding area, but she mostly just looked ahead and down, not really in the right frame of mind for site seeing. she also would normally have been thinking of how to prove her skills to her new alpha, yet tiredness swept those thoughts away as well
